Team reviews Jal Shakti Abhiyan steps

To review the progress under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, a Central team comprising Vivek Gupta, Director of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, and Central Nodal Officer for the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, along with technical officer Naima Akhtar today visited Jalandhar to inspect the ongoing activities under this scheme

The visit aimed to evaluate the progress of various rainwater harvesting and water conservation measures implemented in the region.

During their visit, the Central team held comprehensive discussions with district officers and other stakeholders involved in the mission. The deliberations provided an in-depth understanding of various projects under way in Jalandhar, focusing on sustainable water management practices. The officers also showcased the best practices in terms of water conservation in the district.

The team visited multiple locations in Phillaur and Adampur to review the progress of different aspects of the scheme, including rainwater harvesting, water conservation and the geo-tagging of water bodies.

They also evaluated the preparation of scientific plans for water conservation tailored to the specific needs of the district. The establishment of Jal Shakti Kendras in all districts was another key area of focus.

The officials also reviewed the implementation of intensive afforestation efforts and the rejuvenation of small rivers. The construction and development of Amrit Sarovars under Mission Amrit Sarovar were inspected besides efforts towards de-silting and cleaning existing water bodies. The revitalisation of abandoned borewells for groundwater recharge was another initiative under scrutiny.
