Teej fest at St Soldier school

Jalandhar: The festival of Teej was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St Soldier Divine Public School. Chief guest and school vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra was welcomed by Principal Ambika Sharma, staff and students. Girls and teachers reached the institution in cultural outfits to make the programme special. On the occasion, the girls showcased their art by presenting folk songs, dialects, dance, gidha, bhangra and modelling. To show a glimpse of a Punjabi village, phulkaris, chhaj, chatis, madhanis were decorated in the programme. Various competitions were also organised on the occasion in which student Bhumika got the title of Sohni Phabbat, Alisha selected as Sohna Mukhda, Jasmine as Wakhri Tor, Mahinoor was Miss St. Soldier. Amonng teachers, Jyoti got Mrs Teej, Rajni Walia Mrs Punjaban, Pooja as Mrs Sohna Mukhda, Daljit was chosen as Miss Rakan. Sangeeta Chopra congratulated everyone on the festival of Teej and extended her best wishes to all.

Tiny tots celebrate TEEJ Festival

A Teej fair was organised in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr Sec School, Kapurthala Road, with great pomp and show. The little tiny tots came dressed up in traditional attires and looked mesmerising. They danced to the tune of dhol dhamaka and enjoyed taking the swings. Students performed various cultural activities like group dance, songs, gidha and bhangra. Students performance was remarkable. Principal Priyanka Sharma congratulated the students on Teej and sensitised them about Punjabi culture and further added that such cultural programmes were organised to keep the students attached to the Punjabi culture.

International Tiger Day celebrated

International Tiger Day was celebrated in Kamla Nehru Primary School, Phagwara. Students of Grade I presented a special assembly on the occasion.They worn tiger attire and gave message to save them. They also performed mesmerising dance performance on “give me some sunshine, give me some rain”. Students sung melodious song. School Headmistress Jyoti Bhardwaj appreciated the efforts of students and teachers. She motivated the students to spread the message in society about not hunting tigers for their skin.

Pool party organised

State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised a pool party for the blossom buddies of kindergarten section. The day for them was filled with fun, frolic and endless joy. They were submerged in sea of recreation. The mentors too were delighted to witness these tiny tots having best of their time. President Narotam Singh, vice president Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Savina Bahl were overwhelmed to see this and exclaimed that there were many more fun-filled activities to come.

Hindi Calligraphy Contest

Hindi calligraphy competition was conducted at The Nobel School on July 22. Handwriting is a very important academic skill and a part of our heritage. The growth of this skill is like the refinement of a language. Students from Class I to V showed excellent creativity through their writing skills and participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. Imrat from Grade I , Nishtha from Grade II, Yashika, Mahi, Sherry from Grade III, Savneet Ghera Grade IV and Damandeep Kaur Grade V secured the first position in the competition. At the end, Principal Amita Sharma explained the students that a good handwriting is a mirror of knowledge and one’s intellect, inner personality and soul.

‘Inculcate leadership skills in students’

To inculcate the spirit of leadership among its students, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised an inspiring address of Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi for all the members of student council 2022-23. During the address, Principal Atima Sharma exhorted the members to come forward, take initiative and do something different to lead the other students as the aim of having a student council is to inculcate leadership and managerial skills in the students. She said, “Leadership skill is one of the key component that can make a person successful in her life as through one’s leadership skills, she can inspire others to achieve the best in their lives.” She encouraged them to participate in the activities along with their studies. The Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare, for organising the programme.

World Nature Conservation Day

World Nature Conservation Day was celebrated at Eklavya School. The objective of this celebration was to increase the awareness about protecting the natural resources that the Earth is bestowed with. The celebration commenced with an inspiring quote from Sonam of Grade IV, followed by a motivational speech of educator Anchal. Her speech unfolded many wonders about the forests and induced responsibility in each one of the students to preserve them. School chairman JK Gupta and director Seema Handa said that every human being was responsible for the conservation of nature and each individual must participate in protecting the environment. Students of primary school prepared posters based on the theme. The posters had methods and ways on how to conserve nature. It was followed by the oath taking by the students. Many students promised to alter their habits to help in saving the natural resources. Activities like balloon printing, hand impressions, role play, slogan writing, poster making and recitation were organised on the occasion. School Principal Komal Arora and administrator Dimple Malhotra applauded the efforts of the students and staff in celebrating such days. Both wished all the students a happy World Nature Conservation Day.

Nature Conservation day observed

The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, celebrated World Nature Conservation Day to create awareness about the need to preserve the environment and natural resources for the posterity. Principal Gurpinder Singh Samra, while planting a sapling, drew attention to the need for preserving the environment in view of relentless human overexploitation of resources in recent years. He reiterated his commitment to the cause of environment and ecosystem and urged the present gathering to contribute by organising awareness campaigns and actively participating in events and activities that come to the rescue of mother nature. On the occasion, dean sports Dr Simranjeet Singh Bains welcomed the Principal and highlighted that a healthy environment was a foundation for a stable and productive society and elaborated upon various steps that need to be taken by the youth of the college in contributing their part to address and arrest the further decay of our environment. Members present during the occasion were dean cultural affairs Prof Palwinder Singh, Prof Ajitpal Singh, Prof Ajay Kumar, Amritlal Saini and Sunil Kumar, besides the students of Department of Physical Education and Sports.

25 students attend NCC CAMP

The NCC Air Wing cadets of Police DAV Public School, PAP campus, participated in a 10-day combined annual training camp organised at Lovely Professional University in July. A total of 25 cadets, including 12 boys and 13 girls participated in the camp. Cadets won the drill competition under junior division. Mohit Malhotra won a gold medal in firing under junior division. Principal Rashmi Vij felicitated the cadets.
