Thieves target shops in Garhshankar, steal Rs 14k
In an overnight robbery, three masked thieves broke into four shops on Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib Road, stealing approximately Rs 14,000 from two establishments.
The targeted shops include Car Bazaar, Book Depot, Ganesh Marvels and a fruit shop, located just 100 meteres from the Deputy Speaker’s residence, raising concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
According to reports, the thieves broke into the shutters of the shops—Fateh Car Bazaar owned by Talwinder Singh, Royal Book Depot run by Ranjit Singh, Ganesh Marvels Marble shop, and Radhey Shyam Grocery on Banga Road. The thieves managed to steal around Rs 10,000 from Fateh Car Bazaar and Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 from Radhey Shyam Grocery, while no cash was found at the other two shops.
The theft was captured by CCTV cameras, showing the thieves in action. Talwinder Singh, the owner of Fateh Car Bazaar, informed that upon receiving news of the break-in, he found the cupboard door of his shop broken and cash and valuables worth around Rs 10,000 missing. He reported an overall loss of Rs 25,000. Singh has informed the Garhshankar Police about the incident, which is now under investigation.
