The arrests were made following an operation led by the CIA staff of Kapurthala under the supervision of Sarabjit Rai, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), and Parminder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Detective).

Giving more information in this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora said the accused, identified as Princepal Singh, a resident of Thana village, Gurwinder Singh, alias Garry, a resident of Bishrampur, and Jatin Kumar, a resident of Khusropur village i nJalandhar district, were apprehended with two country-made pistols, one toy pistol and six live cartridges. An FIR (No. 23) under Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered at the Kapurthala Sadar police station against the three accused in this connection.

SSP Toora said an investigation revealed that Gurwinder Singh, one of the arrested individuals, had been planning to attack his relative’s house due to a long-standing personal feud. The involvement of a Dubai-based associate, Ninder, who allegedly orchestrated the plot, indicates a broader international link in the illegal arms network.

The police action has successfully thwarted what could have been a violent confrontation, underscoring the importance of timely intelligence and coordinated law enforcement efforts.

The SSP said further investigation was underway to uncover more details about the firearms smuggling operation and the role of other individuals involved.
