Three-tier strategy to deal with drugs: DC
To intensify the fight against drugs, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal today ordered the SDMs to submit a daily activity report on drug abuse. Panchal said the district administration was working on a three-tier strategy to curb the drug menace which mainly includes prevention, de-addiction and rehabilitation of drug victims. He also said that SDMs of Kapurthala, Bholath, Sultanpur Lodhi and Phagwara would have to submit an action plan against drug abuse by Monday which must be prepared as per the geographical, social and other important parameters of the sub-division.
Advocating the key role to be played by SDMs, Panchal said that “they must personally attend the awareness programmes in schools and colleges so that students can be made aware about the ill-effects of drugs”.
