Torn pages of Gutka Sahib were found from a vacant plot near Mehli bypass at Mehli village in Nawanshahr on Saturday.

The incident came to light after a Phagwara resident spotted the pages and raised an alarm. He also informed the local police, following which the village residents, members of Sikh organisations and others gathered there.

Talking to Jalandhar Tribune, Behram SHO Gurdial Singh said Sukhwant Singh of Phagwara informed the police about the incident. He said a case against an unknown person had been registered and CCTVs installed on all roads leading towards the plot and other areas, were being scanned.

Meanwhile, the locals expressed their resentment against increasing sacrilege incidents across the state. They said Sikhs across the state should unite and raise their voice against such incidents. They also sought speedy police action against the accused.
