Passengers at the railway station here were in for a gruelling wait today, thanks to interminable fog-induced train delays. As per information collected from the Railways, most mail and express trains were running one to 11 hours behind schedule due to poor visibility caused by foggy conditions on Thursday.
When contacted, Station Superintendent Davinder Singh confirmed that trains had been delayed.
The Jammu and Amritsar-bound Vande Bharat Express train was running few hours behind schedule, Jamnagar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Superfast Express by three hours and 50 minutes and Pathankot Delhi Superfast Express was behind schedule. Himgiri Express was late by four hours, Murie Express by four hours, Shatabdi Express by one hour, Ludhiana-Amritsar by two hours and 50 minutes, Ajmer Express by one hour, Chandigarh Intercity by one hour, Begumpura Express train by several hours, Chhattisgarh Express by seven hours and 50 minutes, Pooja Express by five hours, Dhauladhar Express by six hours, Sarbat Da Bhala by two hours, Katihar Express by 11 hours, Shan-e-Punjab by three hours, Jhelum Express by 11 hours and Malwa Express was late by six hours today.
Davinder Singh said the Ludhiana-Delhi bound Sachkhand Express on the down line was running six hours behind schedule, Jhelum Express by five hours, Deluxe Express by one hour and other trains were late by half-an-hour to three hours due to dense fog.
Hundreds of rail passengers faced inconvenience due to late running of trains amid severe cold conditions.
