The Nakodar police have registered a fraud case against a travel agent three years after he allegedly duped a family of ₹6.40 lakh on the pretext of sending a youth abroad. Complainant Paramjit Kaur stated that through an acquaintance, she came in contact with agent Gurchet Singh of Jandiali Patti Gaggar. She told him she wanted to send her brother Jasbir Singh to Portugal, following which the agent promised to arrange a visa within five or six months. The deal was finalised for ₹6.40 lakh. However, despite receiving the money, the accused neither sent Jasbir abroad, nor remained in touch, ignoring repeated calls from the family. The complainant escalated the matter to higher authorities, after which the complaint was forwarded to Sadar police station. Following an inquiry, a case of fraud has now been registered against Gurchet Singh, and police have begun efforts to trace the accused.

On a complaint lodged by Harwinder Singh of village Channuwindi near Sultanpur, the police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC against three persons accused of duping him on the pretext of sending his son abroad. The complainant alleged that Sahil Arora of Ludhiana, Muskan Sharma, and Harsimran Kaur of Amritsar, who run a consultancy under the name “Visa-05 Immigration Company,” promised to arrange an Australian visa for his son for ₹6 lakh. Singh paid them ₹3.97 lakh in advance, but neither was the visa arranged, nor the money returned. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and assigned the investigation to ASI Subeg Singh.
