Tree plantation drive in Phagwara

The Phagwara Environment Association celebrated its annual Van Mahotsav under president KK Sardana and general secretary Malkiat Singh Raghbotra. The event, supported by various educational and social organisations, saw the participation of Municipal Commissioner Anupam Kaler as the chief guest and Joint MC Commissioner Kulpreet Singh as the guest of honour.

The celebrations commenced at DAV College, where the chief guest planted a sapling, marking the beginning of the festivities. Following this, saplings were distributed and the guests attended the college’s Teej celebrations. The programme continued at Cambridge School where saplings were planted, and the message of nurturing these plants was emphasised.

In collaboration with the Lions Club Phagwara Service, saplings were planted at Swami Vivekananda Park and BKJ Apple Orchard School. Principal Inderjit Kaur welcomed the guests. At Kamla Nehru College, the staff and students joined hands to plant saplings on the premises.

Joint MC Commissioner Kulpreet Singh led the second phase of the event by initiating the plantation drive at GRD College. He honoured students who excelled in cultural programmes and academics. The Rotary Club Phagwara Gems planted saplings in the parks of Gilco Green, where the guests were treated to a community lunch.

The Ek Koshish organisation conducted a workshop on plant care at Putri Paathshala, Hadiabad, with the support of local administrators. Following Principal Rita Thapar’s guidance, saplings were planted in the adjoining parks as well. At St. Soldier Divine Public School, Hadiabad, the Divine Angels Welfare Society, led by Joint MC Commissioner Kulpreet Singh, initiated the plantation drive. The Inner Wheel Club also contributed by planting saplings in Adarsh Nagar. The event concluded with president KK Sardana and general secretary Malkiat Singh Raghbotra expressing gratitude to the participants.
