Two arrested for cybercrime

The cyber cell of the Kapurthala police have arrested two persons identified as Prashant Jurail and Yashodha Devi, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, for impersonating as social media influencer Kumar Gaurav, alias Garry.

Gurpreet Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police (HQ), Kapurthala, said here today that both were arrested after registering an FIR No. 01 dated 16/07/2024 under Section 66 D of the IT Act, 2000, and Section 308 (6), 351(3) of the BNS on the complaint of Kumar Gaurav.

Kumar Gaurav is social media influencer who provides information for travelling abroad through his social media accounts. Both the accused made fake accounts of Kumar Gaurav and took money from people by impersonating him.
