The Bilga police have booked two Ludhiana residents on the charge of cheating a shopkeeper. Station House Officer (SHO) Palwindar Singh Ghuman said the accused were identified as Mohit Vij, a resident of Hussainpura locality under the Salem Tabari police station, Ludhiana, and his brother Pankaj Vij.
Sekhar Chandar, a resident of Koshal Vihar, Patiala Gate, Nabha, complained to the police that he had a pesticide and seed shop at Ganesh Kheti Centre in Kedupur. He said Mohit Vij had Krishna Seed shop at Mowai village. The complainant said he purchased 14 bags of maize seed of Bayer 91081 quality from Mohit’s shop after paying Rs 2,22,500.
The complainant said when he further sold 14 bags of seed to farmers he received complaints from them about its quality. He informed Mohit and returned all 14 bags of seed and demanded his money back. The accused returned Rs 10,000 via Google Pay and refused to return the remaining amount.
Sekhar said Mohit and his brother tried to attack him with a sharp weapon on February 22 when he went to talk to them at their shop.
The Bilga SHO said Sub-Inspector Kulwindar Singh investigated the matter and sent his inquiry report to Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), Jalandhar (Rural), who ordered registration of a case against the accused.
