Rain for the past two days in the region brought down the temperature once again. Most people who had packed up their winterwear were once again seen wearing woollens, especially the bikers, in the morning and evening time.

It began raining around 9:30 am on Friday. It kept on raining intermittently the whole day. In the evening, there was continuous rainfall which went on till Saturday morning. By the morning, almost all low-lying roads were clogged and commuters had a hard time passing through the lanes of Sodal area, Domoria bridge and the old city.

The rainfall also spelled doom for the farmers whose wheat crop got flattened. A large number of farmers in Shahkot, Nakodar, Adampur and Phillaur areas said just ahead of the time of ripening, their efforts to raise the crop for the past five months had gone waste. The farmers are seeking timely assessment and compensation for the crop loss.
