Hoshiarpur: The Model Town police have succeeded in arresting two suspects while stealing batteries on Thursday night. The stolen items were seized from them. According to the police, the arrested suspects have been identified as Sumit Kumar of Neelkanth Mohalla and Sagar of Ghantaghar. Surinder Singh, a resident of Bhagat Nagar, in the complaint filed before the police, told the police that around 1 am, the suspects were stealing batteries from a crane parked outside his shop, after which they caught the duo and informed the police. oc

Jalandhar: After almost a month of protests, the administration has assured the Jagatjit Industries Democratic Workers Union of holding a meeting on Saturday to address their issues. Kapurthala SDM Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, after consulting the DC and the SSP, decided February 1 as the day of meeting. To pacify the workers, the police declared that the cases registered against union leaders would be withdrawn. However, the union leaders said the dharna would continue in the coming days. They said they would intensify the agitation if their demands were not met by Saturday. TNS
