Two killed, 2 injured as bike rams into van at Phagwara

A motorcyclist and his five-year-old nephew were killed on the spot while other pillion riders, his sister-in-law and her daughter, sustained serious injuries when the bike, on which they were returning from Jalandhar and going to their native village Kandiana near Phillaur, rammed into a stationary van on the roadside of the national highway near Haveli at Phagwara this afternoon.

A team of the Phagwara police rushed all four to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, where doctors declared motorcyclist Mandip Rattu (35) and his nephew Vinay (5) brought dead. Paramjit Kaur (35) and her daughter Harmanpreet (5), who sustained serious injuries, were admitted to the hospital.

All were returning from Jalandhar after meeting their relatives.

The police have registered a case against pick-up van driver and handed over the bodies of the deceased to their family members after autopsy.
