Two migrant labourers were electrocuted today while extracting honey from a beehive on a tree when their iron ladder touched the electricity cable passing near the tree. Both migrants died instantly and the school management handed over the bodies to the police.

Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora and Kapurthala DSP Karandeep Singh confirmed the incident and identified the bodies as Sachin (35) and Dinesh (40), both residents of Uttar Pradesh.

School principal Madhu Sengar said permission had been given to the victims for removal of beehives from the trees on the school premises. They brought the iron ladder in the school to climb a tree and the accident happened when the ladder accidentally touched the electricity cable.

The police is investigating the case and kept the bodies in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Kapurthala, for a post-mortem examination.
