Hoshiarpur: The Dasuya police have arrested two suspects on the charge of withdrawing Rs 40,000 from the account a person after swapping an ATM card. Harpal Singh of Dasuya told the police that he had gone to withdraw Rs 5,000 from the SBI ATM located near Hajipur Chowk. He said suspects arrived there on a bike and engaged him in conversation. While talking to him suspects managed to swap their ATM card with complainant’s card and withdrew money from his account. The police have arrested suspects identified as Samuel Hans and Pankaj, both residents of Upkar Nagar, Jalandhar.

Abetment to suicide: one held

Hoshiarpur: A woman upset with her husband ended her life by hanging herself. The Tanda police have registered a case and arrested woman’s husband. Raj Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 5, Garhshankar, told the Tanda police that he had married his daughter to Ajay Kumar, a resident of Ahiyapur. He said after marriage, Ajay allegedly started harassing his daughter. He said perturbed over this, his daughter ended her life after hanging herself. The police have initiated a probe into the matter.
