In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the police arrested two drug peddlers with a large quantity of intoxicanting pills and capsules near the canal bridge between Dhuletta and Phalpota villages.

Giving information in this connection, Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarwan Singh Ball said Inspector Sikander Singh, SHO, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Subhash Kumar, in-charge, Dhuletta police post, and a police team apprehended Rajat, alias Tanu, a resident of Patti Lalo Ki Bara village, and Ajay Kumar, a resident of Dhuletta village.

During search, the police recovered 195 loose intoxicanting pills, 610 intoxicanting capsules (dark red colour) and a Bajaj Platina motorcycle bearing registration number P2-08-45-1425 from the possession of the two accused, he said.

A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the two accused and investigation initiated into the matter, the DSP said.
