Continuing the drive against crime, the city police today arrested two more notorious snatchers and recovered five stolen motorcycles and one mobile phone from them.

Divulging details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma said they got a lead that snatchers were active in the Ladowali road area of the city. He said acting on a tip-off, the police arrested a snatcher identified as Lalit Kumar, a resident of Bilga village from Ladowali Road, and recovered one stolen motorcycle and a mobile phone from his possession.

The CP said during interrogation, Lalit revealed that he committed crime with his accomplices, identified as Uday Walia and Ajay, both residents of Bilga village.

“Subsequently, police parties conducted raids and arrested Uday from Bilga village. Four stolen motorcycles have been recovered from his house,” the CP said.

The CP said no criminal record was found of both the suspects. He said an FIR under Sections 379B, 379 and 411 of the IPC was registered against the suspects at the New Baradari police station. Further investigation was in progress and remaining suspects involved in the crime would be arrested soon, he added.
