Two snatchers, man involved in illicit liquor trade arrested

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested two persons involved in incidents of snatching in the city. Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma said a case had been registered under Sections 304(2) and 3(5) of the BNS at Bhargo Camp police station based on the statement of Mahesh Inder Singh, a resident of New Model House. He that Mahesh had complained to the police about snatching of gold earrings from his wife.

Sharma said based on investigation, the police identified accused as Bhupinder Singh, alias Bablu, a resident of Punjabi Bagh, and Vikram Verma, a resident of Industrial Town.

The man arrested with 15 liquor boxes in custody of the Jalandhar police.

The CP said the police recovered a Splendor motorcycle (bearing registration number PB07-AX-6371), which was stolen a few days ago, from the accused.

In another case, the police arrested a person involved in illegal liquor trade and recovered 15 liquor boxes from his possession. The police got a tip-off that Gaurav Bhatia, a resident of Dada Colony, was involved in illegal liquor trade. He said based on information, the police intercepted his Tata Indica car (bearing registration number PB08BW2340) near Nehari Colony Ground. The CP said during checking, the police recovered 15 boxes of illicit liquor from the vehicle. A case was registered under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act at Basti Bawa Khel police station.
