According to the complaint filed with the police, the accused identified as Balraj Singh and Satnam Kaur from Phillaur allegedly took money from Jagroop Kaur’s son, claiming they would arrange visa and facilitate his travel to Spain. However, months passed, but nothing had happened.

In her statement, Jagroop said, "They gave us false assurances and took a huge sum from us. It was our savings," she said.

The Behram police have registered an FIR against the accused under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with cheating and dishonesty. As per information, both accused are absconding, and efforts are underway to trace their whereabouts.

This incident is not isolated. There are growing number of such cases where individuals are lured with promises of overseas employment or permanent residency, only to be cheated out of large sums of money. People are urged to verify credentials and only use licensed immigration consultants.
