Two youths hurt in accident

A road accident occurred on the Hoshiarpur road where a vehicle and a scooter collided head-on, leaving two youths injured. One of the victims is reported to be in a critical condition.

According to witnesses, the accident took place this afternoon when a Mahindra pick-up (PB 10 FV 3242), travelling towards Hoshiarpur from Phagwara, suddenly went out of control and crashed into a coming scooter (PB 36 HO 0752).

The collision left both scooter riders Gurpreet Singh and Amarjeet Singh of Jagjitpur seriously injured. Given the severity of his condition, Gurpreet Singh was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana for advanced treatment.

Reports suggest that the pick-up driver had already hit another vehicle before losing control and colliding with the scooter. The impact was so severe that the pick-up overturned.

Bystanders immediately intervened, rescuing the driver from the overturned vehicle and handing him over to the police. The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and further action is expected
