Panic and frustration have gripped residents of Mohindru Mohalla in Ward No. 71 after a house near Malka Chowk reportedly partially collapsed, creating a serious safety hazard in the area.
According to a complaint filed by Sanjay Sehgal, Social and Transparency Activist and Senior Vice Chairman of the RTI Department, Punjab Congress Committee, the property owner is currently residing abroad and has failed to take any preventive action.
The partially collapsed structure and scattered debris (malba) have completely blocked the road, causing significant inconvenience to residents, shopkeepers, and commuters since yesterday morning.
“Authorities must act urgently to remove the debris, issue notices, recover penalties, and lodge an FIR against the negligent property owner,” Sehgal stated in his complaint. The complaint has been addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar; Commissioner, Municipal Corporation; Municipal Town Planner; and SHO, Police Division No. 2, Jalandhar.
