With an aim to stop the practice of using single-use plastic, Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal launched an awareness campaign to promote the use of alternative sources instead of plastic in the district on Friday.

During a district-level programme organised by the district administration and Punjab Pollution Control Board here at Virsa Vihar, the DC said: “We need to work together for environment protection following the teachings of Gurbani to ensure a safe future for our next generations.”

He talked about negative effects of single-use plastic through a comprehensive presentation, besides urging school students, NGOs, government officials and employees to be a part of the campaign to use jute and cloth bags instead of plastic.
