Use energy efficient solar instruments, expert tells farmers

Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nawanshahr, in collaboration with Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) with financial assistance from Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Central Government, today organised a training programme for farmers on energy and water conservation at Nawanshahr.

The objective of the programme was to create awareness among farmers about energy efficient pumpsets and best operational practices in agriculture sectors. About 120 farmers were present during the event.

The chief guest of the programme was Yashpal Juyal, DM PEDA. He encouraged farmers for using energy efficient solar gadgets and also informed about the government schemes and subsidies available for solar gadgets.

Dr Rajan Aggarwal from PAU Ludhiana explained about water conservation techniques and discussed about the right use of tubewells and motors for judicious use of water and energy.

Rohit of PEDA explained about the status of renewable energy. He encouraged the farmers to conserve energy, recycle and turn off electronic devices when not in use. He also told that the efficiency of BEE star rated pumps was 25 to 35 per cent more than non-rated pumps.
