Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hosted a lecture-cum-awareness session by Lt General Ajay Chandpuria, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps. The engagement offered students and faculty an opportunity to learn from the real-life leadership experiences of a serving military leader.
Lt General Chandpuria delivered a thought-provoking address on self-empowerment, leadership excellence, and the Indian Army as a prestigious and purpose-driven career. Drawing upon powerful anecdotes from his extensive service, he highlighted the timeless values of discipline, dedication, courage, integrity, and purposeful living as the foundational pillars of transformational leadership.
Speaking to medical and paramedical students, the General highlighted the indispensable role of healthcare professionals in the Armed Forces and elaborated on career avenues through the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), including Short Service and Permanent Commission options. He encouraged young MBBS students to cultivate mental resilience, clarity of purpose, and a strong sense of national commitment, emphasising that “Self-empowerment begins with self-belief, continuous learning, and an unwavering commitment to serve humanity.”
The event was attended by senior military representatives and the leadership of PIMS, including Dr Kanwaljit Singh (Executive Chairman) and Dr Rajiv Arora (Director Principal).
