After the death of three persons, including two children, in a road accident in Hajipur a few days ago, DC Ashika Jain had ordered fixing of time for vehicles carrying sand and gravel from stone crushers. But according to area villagers, the orders have not been implemented properly, and they also wanted to change the time fixed for the movement of vehicles.

In accordance with their demands and angry over the alleged violation of DC’s orders and local police’s failure to implement these orders properly, the victim’s family and local people blocked the road and held a protest today. The protesters were also demanding compensation for the accident victim’s family. Under the leadership of former sarpanch Kishore Kumar and with support of the city residents, the Talwara-Mukerian road was blocked at Hajipur, due to which traffic on this road got affected.

Addressing the protest, the former sarpanch said that after the protest held on April 16, the police still failed to resolve the issues. They demanded that the time for the movement of vehicles from the stone crushers be changed from 11 pm to 5 am. The protesters were demanding that they would not end the protest until any administrative officer of the district talks to them.

Following this, the police administration and the tipper owner, whose vehicle was involved in the accident, held a special meeting with the protesters. In the meeting, the tipper owner agreed to pay compensation to the affected families. Later, the police and administration also assured the protesters that they would look into their demands. Finally, the protest was lifted around 6 pm and the traffic restored.
