The winter season in Hoshiarpur is set to get a lively boost with the return of the “Wakhra Swag” grand winter exhibition, taking place from December 26 to 28 at City Centre, Police Lines. Organised by RJ Creators, this three-day event will feature a dynamic mix of entrepreneurship, entertainment, culture, sports and community service, bringing something for everyone under one roof.
Coordinators Dr Pankaj Shiv and Renu Kanwar shared that the exhibition’s aim is to promote both entrepreneurship and social welfare. NGOs, social groups and CSR wings—including Sonalika International CSR, Red Cross Hoshiarpur and district initiatives like Charhda Suraj and Wings—will have the opportunity to showcase their impactful work. The event will also host a variety of stalls featuring handicrafts, lacquer art and displays from national-level business leaders and artisans.
A special focus will be given to career development with free professional career counselling seminars for students, supported by the City Group of Institutions. In addition, the exhibition will spotlight the sports achievements of local athletes, offering inspiration for the youth.
A spirited curtain raiser ceremony recently took place at the exhibition venue. The event was inaugurated by MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa, former MP & Red Cross Vice Chairman Avinash Rai Khanna, and ADC (Development) Nikas Kumar. The poster for the exhibition was released by Deputy Speaker Punjab Vidhansabha Jai Krishan Rouri, Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh, MP Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, DC Aashika Jain and MLAs Karambir Singh Ghuman, Jasbir Singh Raja and Dr Ishank.
The dignitaries praised the event organisers for adopting a “no profit, no loss” model aimed at supporting local businesses and youth development. They particularly commended RJ Creators for integrating social welfare initiatives such as Red Cross and the district’s Wings initiative.
The exhibition will offer professional stalls at affordable rates to support small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, a free training program on innovative business ideas and new technologies will be held for aspiring entrepreneurs. Renu Kanwar, event partner, also expressed her gratitude to sponsors and emphasised that dedicated career counselling sessions will help students make informed education and career decisions.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of entertainment options, including cultural dance performances, a DJ night, a kids’ zone, gaming zone, selfie points and live activity arenas. The exhibition will also feature sports organisations from cricket, badminton, judo, cycling and biker clubs, adding an energetic sports dimension to the event.
Publicity for the exhibition will include coverage across social media, radio, hoardings, print media and city-wide flex displays. Event management expert Naveen Sharma from Jalandhar also attended the ceremony and provided insights on the event structure.
MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa stated that the exhibition would inspire the youth and give a boost to the local business sector. Former MP Avinash Rai Khanna described the event as “truly Wakhra Swag,” reflecting the progressive spirit of Hoshiarpur. ADC Nikas Kumar praised the organisers for offering free stalls to social organisations and supporting welfare projects, calling the initiative a model worth replicating.
With its vibrant mix of business, culture, entertainment, and social good, the Wakhra Swag Grand Winter Exhibition is set to be one of the most anticipated events on Hoshiarpur’s winter calendar.
