Warring makes veiled counter-attacks on Rana
Post the recent outburst by ex-minister Rana Gurjeet Singh against PPCC president Amrinder S Raja Warring, the latter hit him back through veiled counter-attacks.
The event was a review meeting of the party convened by Congress co-incharge Ravindra Dalvi here this evening. Warring, while asking the workers to ensure that they would maintain discipline, said there were some indisciplined persons who go and say things on TV.
Here Warring was taking potshots at Rana for giving an interview on TV channel, calling him a “selfish person with an artificial smile. Showing anger against him for trying to stall him from contesting from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat, Rana had also said he no longer considered Warring as his party president at the heart.
Warring made a second hidden attack against Rana saying, “Indisciplined is the person who makes his candidate contest against the party candidate.” Here he implied that Rana Gurjeet Singh had made his son Rana Inder Partap contest as an Independent candidate from Sultanpur Lodhi against party candidate Navtej Cheema. Warring also praised Sukhpal Khaira (Rana’s opponent within the party) for his strong opinions and stands on principles and issues.
Warring said, “Meri kursi pakki nhi (My seat is not permanent). I can go but I shall do all my duties till I am on the post. There is a possibility that I may not go but I may even be made to quit tomorrow. I like the healthy competition in the party for the post of president. But all must know that the Congress has done away with the practice of announcing a CM face. Whoever stays back as the PPCC president must know that even if he is not the CM face, it would be considered his victory if the party comes back to power under his stewardship.”
MLA Pargat Singh, who too is in the race for presidentship, attended the meeting. Others included MLAs Bawa Henry, Hardev S Laddi Sherowalia, and halqa incharges Dr Navjot Dahiya, Rajinder Beri, Surinder Kaur and Rajinder Singh were among those present.
During the meeting, Dalvi laid emphasis on holding regular booth-level, block-level and district-level meetings.
