Weaving tales: Online short story contest held

Jalandhar, July 17

The Jalandhar Literary Forum, in association with M/s Krishna Agencies, organised an online Short Story Contest-2021. The concept was drafted and shaped by Randeep Dhillon Mand, a prolific writer who is also the editor of the newly-released book ‘Barefoot Souls’ (a collection of stories by children).

The contest was announced online in June on the Bookrack Group of Facebook and the contest was opened for participants up to the age of 16 years of age. Randeep Mand drafted three different starters of three different stories and the participants were to complete one of the stories out of three up to 600 to 800 words.

The forum received stories online and the participants emailed stories to Nikhil Sharma, project director of the contest, till July 10 and the same were forwarded to Dr Rana Preet Gill, a leading author from Hoshiarpur. The author of the newly-released book Maya, Dr Rana delivered her verdict online. Sargi Uppal, Jinisha Batra and Naman Sachdev won the first, second and third prizes, respectively. Commendation prizes went to Amay Mahajan, Harshit Sachdev, Manvi and Deepika Kumari.

Navjot Singh, Convener, Rakesh Shantidoot, Co-convenor, Saket Malhotra, promoter, and Dinesh Malhotra, Media Secretary, distributed prizes to the winners. Navjot Singh said the forum would organise the contest every year and would try to make it more popular the next time.
