Jalandhar: The Department of Music of PCM SD College for Women organised an international webinar on the topic, ‘The contribution of Sikh musicology to the study of gurbani sangeet: Reflections on gender and inclusivity’. Prof Francessca Cassio from Hofstra University (New York) was the resource person of the day. At the outset, Anu Bala, Head, Department of Music (vocal), introduced the chief guest to the participants of the webinar and also familiarised the audience with the topic. Prof Cassio threw considerable light on the importance of the topic. She talked about the gurbani sangeet and the role of women in gurbani sangeet. At the end, Arupriya Seen, Department of Music (Instrument), extended a vote of thanks to the resource-person and the participants. The Psychology Department of HMV organised a trip to Amritsar.
Students go on Trip to Amritsar
The PG Department of Psychology, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, organised a trip to Amritsar. A contingent of 24 students with three faculty members, Dr Ashmeen Kaur, Niharika Mazumdar and Harpreet Kaur visited Amritsar. A trip was coordinated by Dr Ashmeen Kaur. It was a one-day trip and three places (Golden temple, Jalianwala Bagh and Gobindgarh fort) were visited. Firstly, students and teachers paid obeisance at Darbar Sahib where they spent peaceful time in spiritual environment. Afterwards, the contingent visited Jalianwala Bagh, where students got an opportunity to know about the history of massacre whose horrifying memories are still alive in the minds of people. After the Jalianwala Bagh, they visited the Gobindgarh Fort where they came to know about the heritage fort of Punjab. Students were shown a 7D show based on the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Students were also made to analyse the psychological determinants behind the sacrifices. Students also had a lunch at the fort. Students clicked photographs at all the places.
Intra-college IDEATHONE-2023
DAV College, Jalandhar, with the student welfare council, took an initiative to fetch the vibrant communities of visionaries and entrepreneurs together by organising an Intra-college Ideathone-2023, business plan competition, which brings together entrepreneurs, startups, partners, to share their stories with the investors, to raise funds and also to get valuable feedback on their businesses. Ashutosh, MD of Rajhans International, graced the occasion as chief guest of the event. The event started with the felicitation of the chief guest by Principal Rajesh Kumar. A total of 68 students participated in the event. The event was organised with the objective to vitalise student entrepreneurs and support the growth of jobs.
