Weekly review to strengthen public infrastructure, says DC

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain today reaffirmed that the district administration is fully committed to ensuring smooth functioning and timely improvement of essential public infrastructure, including roads, traffic lights and other civic facilities.

She emphasised that addressing public inconvenience remains a top priority, and the administration is working in a proactive and coordinated manner to resolve issues without delay.

DC Jain announced that weekly review meetings will now be conducted to regularly monitor the performance of concerned departments. These meetings will focus on identifying shortcomings, reviewing ongoing work, and ensuring time-bound progress across all infrastructure-related projects.

Highlighting the administration’s commitment to both urban and rural development, she stated that no resident should face hardship due to lack of basic facilities. All departments have been issued clear instructions to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential services. She added that any complaint received from the public will trigger immediate action, with directions issued to the concerned department for prompt redressal.

To streamline the process and make it result-oriented, Assistant Commissioner (General) Parampreet Singh has been appointed as the nodal officer. He will coordinate with all departments regarding deficiencies related to roads, traffic lights and other infrastructure. A dedicated Google Sheet–based tracking portal is being developed, where departments will upload regular updates on completed and ongoing improvement works. This system is expected to enhance transparency and expedite the resolution of issues.

During the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation, Hoshiarpur, to immediately repair the non-functional traffic lights at Naloiyan Chowk and Salwara Chowk. She instructed that under no circumstances should the public face inconvenience and that all basic services must remain fully operational.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, Aashika Jain said that ensuring public convenience is paramount and that all departments must work responsibly to maintain and upgrade the district’s essential infrastructure.
