A Vidhan Sabha team visited the city today and held a meeting with MC officials. The team was here to audit accounts of various development works undertaken recently and also visited some sites.
As per information, chairman of the estimate committee Hardial Singh Kamboj visited Attari Bazaar where 36 illegal shops have been constructed. Later, the chairman asked the building inspector on why no action was taken earlier against the same. To this, the inspector apprised him that the moment he got to know that the shops had been built there, he had issued challans. Afterwards, the chairman asked him why in the first place were these structures allowed to get constructed at the site.
Later, he visited another area where a road, which was constructed a month ago, got damaged badly. Kamboj took the cognisance of the matter and noted it down.
He then visited the Raen Basera and asked about details related to it. He also reportedly visited the city’s 120-ft road and checked the status of cleanliness there along with other things.
After that, the chairman of the committee said he could not share the report in public platform but would present the report in the Vidhan Sabha. “I have noted down every problem which I observed in various works during my visit and would look into it. Besides, where the corporation needs any support, we would lend them help too,” he said. Kamboj was accompanied by Mayor Jagdish Raja, MC Commissioner Diprava Lakra and Jalandhar West MLA Sushil Rinku. Earlier, they held a meeting with officials of various branches of the Municipal Corporation at the Circuit House. During the meeting, along with higher officials, the building and roads (B&R) branch officials, operation and maintenance (O&M) branch officials were also present. It was after the meeting when Kamboj, along with others, visited various places.
