The Shahkot police have booked five persons, including a woman, on the charges of extortion, cheating and snatching
Investigating Officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said the accused had been identified as Joban Preet Singh of Chanann Windi village under Sultanpur Lodhi police station, Kapurthala, and his four accomplices.
Narinder Singh (58), a resident of Jainpur village, complained to the police that he was running a commission agent shop in Sultanpur Lodhi grain market and received a phone call on September 9.
The caller introduced himself as his old labourer and offered to provide the labour force and invited him to his village Saidpur Jhirri village.
The complainant said he reached the village and one person accompanied him inside a room where the half-naked girl was sitting on a bed and three unidentified accused came and pushed him onto the bed.
Narinder said the accused demanded Rs 5 lakh from him threatening to register a rape case against him if he does not pay money.
The complainant said when he refused to accept their demand, the accused started beating him up for a long time and stanched Rs 15,000, an Apple watch and four ATM cards, forcing him to disclose PIN and to sign a cheque of the SBI.
Narinder said the accused drew Rs 20,000 using his ATM cards and demanded more money. He said the video was made viral on social media, adding that he recognized one accused Joshan Preet Singh, who planned a conspiracy.
The IO said a case has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
