Woman killed in hit-and-run accident near Phagwara

A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman near Chachoki village, close to Phagwara, on Monday evening. The victim Nishu Ratan, a resident of Chachoki, was fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road.

According to witnesses Chiranji Lal and Maninder Bains, the incident occurred when Nishu, who was employed with a private company in Jalandhar, was returning home after work. As she attempted to cross the road near Chachoki, a speeding vehicle hit her and fled the scene immediately without stopping to render aid.

Local residents rushed to help but Nishu succumbed to her injuries on the spot. The police were informed soon after and a team reached the location to take stock of the situation. The body was later sent for the post-mortem examination.
