In a major push towards fitness and healthy living, Rajya Sabha MP and Lovely Professional University Chancellor Dr Ashok Mittal, along with AAP’s Jalandhar Central Halqa Incharge Nitin Kohli, inaugurated the construction of a Nature Trail in Old Baradari on Wednesday.
The Nature Trail would feature a volleyball court, a synthetic badminton court, and a walking track, complemented by greenery and plantation patches along the entire stretch. The road has been named Nature Trail to emphasise the blend of recreational facilities and natural landscaping.
Connecting the DC and Commissioner residences to Hansraj Stadium and the Division Commissioner’s residence, the project is valued at nearly Rs 2.98 crore. It also includes a large-scale plantation drive aimed at promoting greenery and cleaner surroundings.
The initiative forms part of Nitin Kohli’s flagship campaign, ‘Fit Central Jalandhar’, which seeks to transform the constituency into a hub for fitness and active lifestyles. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Mayor Vaneet Dhir, Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sandeep Rishi and other dignitaries including Ajay Chopra, Happy Warring, Jatin Gulati, Rajiv Gill, Tera Seth, Tarun Sikka, Sanjeev Kumar, Subhash Sharma, Parveen Pabbi and MB Bali.
Under the project, modern sports playgrounds would be developed across all 23 wards of Jalandhar Central. Each would be equipped with floodlights, turf walking tracks and courts for games such as badminton, volleyball, football and cricket.
