Hoshiarpur, March 4
Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa initiated the work of laying a sewerage system in the villages of Bajwara and Qila Baroon at a cost of Rs 31 crore.
He further said Bajwara village has a population of 10322 and 2,483 households while Qila Baroon has a population of 1742 with 410 houses. With this project, the population of 12064 and 2893 households of both villages would get benefit.
He said the sewerage system of Bajwara and Qila Baroon has been designed keeping in view the population of 30 years and a sewerage treatment plant of 2.5 MLD capacity would be constructed for this purpose. This would lead to the controlling of oxygen demand to the extent of 10 MG/Litre and further, the treated water would be used for irrigation.
The minister said an intermediate pumping station would also come up in Qila Baroon through which sewage would be pumped into the main sewer of Bajwara. This project entails laying of 47625 metre UPPVC and RCC sewer pipeline. The project would be completed in one and a half years.
