Dr Kapoor, who retired as a principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College, explained in his book that yoga was way more than exercise or gymnastics. “It is a science of self-awareness that can be practiced by all, at any stage of life, irrespective of race, sex, colour, age-group and ideology,” he said.

Dr Kapoor, who has also served as the first Registrar of DAV University, writes for several dailies on spiritual literature.

He said, “Yoga harmonises the body, mind and soul. It is divine wealth that dawned on vedic rishis before it was systematized by Patanjali. It is an art of infusing the rhythm of timeless into the fast moving affairs of time.”

He added, “Yoga helps one understand that man is not just a bundle of flesh and bones, a conglomeration of chemicals and past impressions but a vibrant soul. Yogic lifestyle, marked by self-discipline, moral values, postural practice, control of breath, sattvic diet, mindfulness and meditation, improves health, reduces stress, checks negative impulses and bestows peace.”
