Young delegates debate global issues at DAV MUN

A three-day Model United Nations (MUN) conference concluded at Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar Cantonment, on Monday.

The seventh edition of the event witnessed the participation of 725 students from various schools across the city. They engaged in discussions and debates on globally relevant issues, exploring practical solutions and reaching well-considered conclusions on a range of agendas.

The chief guest at the closing ceremony, Principal Dr Rashmi Vij, was accorded a warm welcome by MUN coordinators Manoj Dutta, Balwinder Singh and Seema Sharma. The programme commenced with a musical performance by students, who enthralled the audience with their instrumental and vocal skills.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Vij spoke about the positive transformation witnessed among students during the course of the conference. She noted a perceptible enhancement in their critical thinking, communication skills and confidence levels. She further appreciated the collaborative efforts of students and teachers in ensuring the success of the event.

Following the Principal’s address, a classical dance by Jahnvi and a captivating group dance drew enthusiastic applause. Aarushi Tandon, deputy secretary-general, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the smooth conduct of the MUN. Dr Vij also inaugurated the e-magazine PDAVMUN-25.

Head of operations Tanveer Singh thanked everyone for their support in bringing the vision of a successful conference to fruition. A video presentation highlighted the key moments and behind-the-scenes efforts of the three-day event. The Executive Board members commended the organising committee and faculty for their dedication, as well as the zeal demonstrated by the delegates.

Dr Vij felicitated the best-performing delegates across 10 committees. Police DAV Public School, Ludhiana, was declared the Best School Delegation and the institution with the highest number of participants.

In his concluding speech, secretary-general Advitya reflected on the tireless efforts made to make the conference a grand success and extended his gratitude to all contributors. He then handed over the baton to Dr Vij, who officially declared the event closed. The programme culminated with an energetic bhangra performance by the school’s dance team, followed by the National Anthem.
