In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old youth has been arrested along with three accomplices for allegedly conspiring to murder his father over a property dispute in Kapurthala.
The case, executed on the night of December 1, was solved by the district police under the leadership of SSP Gaurav Toora, today.
The accused were identified as Karan Kumar (24) of Amrik Nagar, Bhulana, Tarsem Lal of Sardullapur, Kabirpur, Mangat Ram of Mohalla Ucha Dhaora, Kapurthala, and Harjinder Singh of Busowal, Kabirpur.
Addressing press conference at Kapurthala, Toora said accused Karan Kumar hired three persons to kill his father Suraj Kumar (45). Karan reportedly paid ₹4 lakh to the accused for the crime.
Toora told journalists that Suraj Kumar, who worked at a private club house, left for work around 4:30 pm on December 1.
Suraj had suffered a fatal head injury inflicted with a weapon.
Despite being rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala, doctors declared him brought dead.
A case was initially registered against unknown persons but during the investigation, the police uncovered Karan’s involvement.
SSP Toora revealed that Karan colluded with three men to commit the crime. The accused, all in their 20s, are residents of Kapurthala district.
The motive was rooted in Karan’s fear of being deprived of his family home. Weapons used in the crime, including two knives, have been recovered, along with a motorcycle n Punjab-09AM-6813 used in the crime.
