Ashoka University and Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights have opened applications for the second cohort of Child Rights Fellowship (CRF) commencing in March 2022.

In a year-long Fellowship, selected candidates would work closely with DCPCR, Government stakeholders, and departments of the district administration to debottleneck implementation, drive accountability, and efficiency in protection of Child Rights.

Launched in 2021, the Fellowship was instrumental in transforming the lives of children in the areas of education, health & nutrition, and juvenile justice. Reading Campaign, one of the flagship projects of Child Rights Fellowship in 2021, focussed on achieving sustained learning outcomes for the students in Delhi's Children Homes. The pedagogical intervention was undertaken with 500+ children where an improvement in the learning levels of children was nearly three times with respect to foundational literacy and numeracy. In light of the successful outcomes achieved in the pilot program, the campaign is now being scaled across 90+ Child Care Institutions, impacting the lives of 4000+ children.

5-10 young professionals will have a platform to work on child rights reforms, policy implementation, and government stakeholder engagement as part of the second cohort.

Speaking about the fellowship, MLA and Former Education Advisory to Deputy Chief Minister Ms. Atishi said, ‘Delhi Commission for the protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has been doing extraordinary work to safeguard children's interests and well-being of the nearly 5 million children of Delhi. Its work has brought about material improvement in the lives of Delhi's children. The Fellowship with Ashoka University is an excellent opportunity for young professionals to be a part of governance and impact the lives of children.’

Eligibility: The one-year Fellowship is open for post-graduates with 1 year of work experience or graduates with 3 years of work experience, and who are aged 30 or below as of March 1, 2022. While candidates irrespective of residence, gender, religion, and caste are encouraged to apply, proficiency in Hindi and English as well as willingness to reside in Delhi during the Fellowship period is essential.

Each Fellow will receive a monthly remuneration of Rs 50,000, inclusive of communication costs and office expenses.

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights is responsible for safeguarding the rights of children in the Delhi NCT region.  The Fellows would be involved in improving and monitoring implementation of schemes and programmes of DCPCR. They would be tasked with conceiving innovative solutions and driving pilot projects to overcome challenges pertaining to child rights and welfare. They would also conduct stakeholder consultations and capacity-building sessions on focus areas apart from drafting policy briefs and position papers on thematic focus areas, amongst other activities.

The deadline for applications is January 10, 2022.
