13th All India Korean Language Speech contest organised

The Korean Cultural Centre India organised annual ‘13th All India Korean Language Speech Contest’ online recently. As many as 32 shortlisted candidates participated in the contest. This is the only one national level of Korean Language contest in India in which high level of proficiency in Korean is seen.

 The participants in each level, beginner (9), intermediate (15), advanced (8) performed their speeches with each given titles as, ‘Korean culture which I love’, ‘My second mother tongue, Korean’, and ‘Korea and I meeting in Corona age’. This year for the first time Q & A session after the speech was introduced in the advanced level.

 The winners from each level were: Alivia Das (Korean Culture And Language Center, Kolkata), Nengneikim Changsan (JNU) and Ahnubuti Kakati (Korean Cultural Centre India).

Ahnubuti Kakati winner of advanced level said she had tough time in making her parents understand about her dedication for Korean language. She was also the winner of 1st prize at Global Korean Language Writing Contest which was held in Seoul in September. This made her parents understand her seriousness for the language and now she is pursuing her dream to be Korean language teacher through Korean language teacher training course by Korean Cultural Centre India.

 HE Shin Bong-kil, the ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea said ‘I am glad that even in difficult situation caused by Corona the event happened online. Thanks to Indian people`s special love for Korean language. President Moon Jae-in had earlier mentioned his gratitude on the adaptation of Korean Language as new second language in National Education Policy. I expect all participants to perform as the bridge between Korean and India in future.
