The National Highways Authority of India was constituted by an Act of Parliament, the National Highways Authority of India Act,1988. It is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of National Highways entrusted to it and for matters connected or incidental thereto. The Authority was operationalised in February, 1995.

The Authority consists of a full-time Chairman, and not more than five full-time Members and four part-time members who are appointed by the Central Government. The part time members are the Secretary (RT&H), Secretary (Expenditure), Secretary (Planning) and DG (RD) & SS. NHAI has technical, Finance, Administrative and Vigilance Wings at its Headquarters. Project implementation Units (PIUs) headed by a Project Director and supported by various technical and accounts officers have been set up at various sites to oversee timely completion of the projects.

Young Professional vacancy: Under this online job applications are invited from eligible candidates for three vacancies of Young Professional (IT) through GATE 2019 score.

Remuneration: An initial consolidated amount of Rs60,000 per month, inclusive of all. The consolidated remuneration will be increased @ 5% for each succeeding year subject to satisfactory performance.

Education qualification & experience: BE/BTech. in Computer Science/Information Technology or MCA or equivalent from a recognised University/Institute.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019 Score in Computer Science and Information Technology discipline.

Period of contract: The period of engagement may be for a period of up to two years in the first instance, which may be further extended by one more year, based on the requirements of the NHAI and the satisfactory performance of the incumbent.

Job description: The post Young Professional (Tech.) was created in order to make use of the young and talented civil engineers in various technical aspects in NHAI works. As a young professional, you will be having a lot of responsibilities and your job will be similar to a Dy. Manager (Tech.) in NHAI, except the powers such as signing authority.

The job may vary from being managerial to clerical depending on the availability of staff in the office. If posted in a Project Implementation Unit(PIU), you’ll have work in the field as well.

The work at NHAI may be related to tendering, estimations, daily correspondence, field supervision and various aspects of monitoring highway operations.

As per the policy guidelines, this is just a contract job of 2 years. It may be extended for 1 more year and not more.
