Is Indian engineering degree recognised in New Zealand?
Q. My husband has been posted to New Zealand from his IT company. I have an Indian engineering degree myself. Will it be recognised there, if I decide to apply for work there?

A. You haven’t mentioned the college from which you did your BTech. Regardless, you’ll be glad to know that Indian Engineering graduates from NBA-accredited programmes of Tier-1 colleges (IITs, IISc, IISERs, IIITs, IIITDM can get professional registration for working internationally. For the simple reason that our degrees are recognised by engineering bodies across 20 major countries — without having to undergo any further formal education.
India being a permanent member of the Washington Accord, Indian engineers have access to a host of signatory countries like the US, UK, Canada, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Turkey, South Africa and Russia.
The Washington Accord is an international agreement for accrediting undergraduate engineering degree programmes to encourage mobility, enhance employment and assure a certain level of professional quality across countries.
Besides providing mobility to our students, the Accord ensures that high quality assurance standards are implemented in our technical and engineering programmes.
