GATE 2021 notification is out. For those who have already applied for the exam the big question is how to begin preparation for it, as this exam involves extensive study. Here are some key points you should keep in mind if you want to succeed in GATE exam:
1. You have to say a big no to mugging up and stay true to yourself. I’m sure that with a little determination and a combination of smart work and hard work, you’ll get success in the GATE.

Negative Marking: 1/3 rd marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. However, 2/3 rd marks will be deducted in case of question carrying 2 Marks.
2. Those preparing for the GATE exam have to figure out how much time he/she can devote to the studies. For those already pursuing their college will need to maintain stability between the college studies and GATE studies.
3. There is no need to play “who is going to collect more books” game. That means most of the time applicants spend more time in collecting books and study material rather than focusing on the exam preparation. You need to step out of this vicious circle of book-collecting and use only a few good resources for the preparation. Do not get confused which book to buy which not to buy for preparation. It is best to refer to the books used by those who have cleared the GATE exam the previous year. Aspirants must read interviews of the candidates who have already cleared the GATE exam to know about the books they have used for preparation. You can also take the help of various coaching institutes or your teachers while you are deciding about the study material for GATE studies.
4. Sustaining consistency is really important: Delay is one of our biggest enemies when we are planning to do something in life. While it’s a natural tendency, you need to make sure that you finish your daily goals on time. Be consistent with your studies when you are preparing for any competitive exam. This thing will help you in life all along apart from GATE preparation.
5. Self-study or coaching for the GATE exam doesn’t make a big change. The candidates who think that they can cover the vast syllabus of GATE Exam by themselves should go for extensive self-study. However, if there is any doubt in your mind about self-preparation, then it’s better to take the help of coaching centers. You should always remember that coaching only contributes to 5% in your success. Rest 95% depends on the candidate own preparation capability.
