The Ludhiana police have cracked the Rs 2 lakh robbery case with the arrest of three accused, including a juvenile. The accused have been identified as Ankit Kumar of Sherpur Chowk, Harjeet Kumar of UP, who is now residing in Sherpur, and a juvenile.
Additional DCP-1 Sameer Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Davinder Chaudhary and SHO Salem Tabri Inspector Amritpal Singh addressed a press conference regarding the matter.
Verma said on May 1 night five motorcycle-borne persons barged into the provisional store on Jassian road and looted Rs 2 lakh. The police seized a toy pistol, two motorcycles and one sharp-edged weapon from the accused. Two accused Suraj and Gautam were at large in the case and a police party was conducting raids to nab them. Once the remaining accused are arrested, the police would also recover the looted amount as claimed by the shop owner.
Among those nabbed, Ankit has a criminal past as a case of snatching had been registered against him at Moti Nagar police station in 2022. After coming out on bail, he continued to commit such crimes.
Police are also questioning the victim to get the truth about the exact amount of money looted.
