Mohali’s Kaashvi wins TT tourney

Mohali’s Kaashvi Gupta overpowered a tough challenge by Patiala’s Gulsheen Kaur to win the women’s final on the concluding day of the UT 1st Punjab State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 23 TT Hall.

Kaashvi won the first two games 11-8 11-8, but Gulsheen returned to make it 1-2 by winning the next game 9-11. Kaashvi maintained her lead in the next with a 11-1 verdict, but Gulsheen again bounced back to reduce the margin by winning the next games 6-11 8-11. In the final, the Mohali girl maintained her calm and bagged the title with a 11-9 victory.

Naman overpowered Sankalp to win the men’s final. Naman won the first three games 11-8 11-14 12-9. In the final game, Naman and Sankalp went through a tough fight before the former logged a 14-12 win for the title.

Trijal Vohra won the boys’ U-13 final by defeating Satvik Sharma 11-9 11-9 11-7 11-2. Aarohi won the girls’ U-13 final by registering a 11-8 11-8 9-11 13-15 15-13 win over Ludhiana’s Gauranshi. Satvik Sharma won the boys’ U-11 final by easily overpowering Rudra 11-6 11-7 11-4.
