Let’s be open to AI’s capacity
Refer to ‘Will AI ever understand quantum mechanics’; the article rightly observes that AI lacks feelings, awareness and consciousness — traits that are vital to know the quantum world. However, the writer has acknowledged that AI now performs tasks like composing poetry, once thought uniquely human. Keeping such creative tasks in mind, it is not illogical to imagine AI developing some form of consciousness too in the future. Declaring it incapable of understanding the quantum world is premature. Instead of limiting its role, we should remain open to AI’s evolving capacity to engage with the foundations of reality.

AI only a complementary tool
Apropos of ‘Will AI ever understand quantum mechanics’; the article offers a thought-provoking perspective on the limitations of artificial intelligence. While AI excels at processing vast amounts of data and solving complex problems, it lacks the depth of human observation, consciousness and spiritual intelligence. Human beings are endowed with creativity, critical thinking and an inner awareness that AI cannot replicate. As we make more advancements in developing AI, we must not lose sight of what humans are capable of. AI should serve as a complementary tool, not a substitute for human insight. The challenge lies not in AI’s capabilities but in how we choose to use them.

Population a double-edged sword
Refer to ‘India’s people’s problem & why it’s time to act now’; the author has thrown light on a major problem of India that is being ignored by the media. If people are hard-working and well-educated, the population can become a source of national power. On the contrary, uneducated, poor and disinterested citizens can become a big hindrance to the success of a nation. People must be made aware that overpopulation is the root cause of many other problems. No initiative is being taken to control the population explosion. The State should understand that it is already too late.

Owaisi’s strong message
Refer to ‘Owaisi shows the way’; the remarks by Asaduddin Owaisi during his visit to Kuwait carry significant weight in the current socio-political climate. His bold and unapologetic message not only exposed the flawed narrative from across the border, but also reinforced the unwavering patriotism of Indian Muslims. Owaisi’s criticism of Pakistan’s military propaganda was also an affirmation of national allegiance that truly resonated. It is rare to see a leader, who is often critical of the government, rise above political rivalries to defend national integrity on an international platform. The Pahalgam terror attack, which was designed to sow seeds of discord between Hindus and Muslims, clearly failed in its purpose.

National integrity on mind
With reference to ‘Owaisi shows the way’; his statement has underlined that India’s sovereignty and national integrity are inviolable and impregnable. A message has gone home to the rogue country that the Indian Muslims’ loyalty to their own nation is unwavering and unquestionable. His statement in a Muslim-majority country, Kuwait, testifies to unity in diversity that strengthens the nation’s social fabric, fostering inclusivity, mutual respect and resilience. This augurs well for the unity of our country. The need of the hour is to sustain this spirit.

Fear among overseas students
Trump’s new restrictive policies are showing signs of jeopardising the academic and career prospects of Indian students in the US. A large number of Indian students take admission in American universities by paying hefty fees worth lakhs of rupees. In 2023, the US Consulate in India issued more than 1,40,000 student visas for the third consecutive year to Indian students. The students are worried that the US government is closing the OPT programme which allows them to work in the US after completing their education. There is genuine fear and confusion among students.
