To see the silver lining through the clouds is actor Sonnalli Seygall’s funda for surviving the odds. True that her recent silver screen outing, Jai Mummy Di, didn’t do well, but the songs from the movie are doing great. Just after having performed at Mummy Nu Pasand and Lamborghini at a wedding in Kolkata, the actor landed in Chandigarh, this time for her best friend’s wedding. Enjoying the beauty of the cold winter, she is now wishing for a ‘munda’ to settle down!

“My best friend Simran Kaur Mundi is marrying Gurickk Maan (son of famous singer Gurdas Maan) in Patiala and post some dance rehearsals, I am headed straight to Patiala,” she shares.

While now there is much joy and gaiety, few days back it wasn’t so. Sonnalli, while received positive feedback for her looks and style, the film didn’t fetch the crowds. “I cried for three days,” she admits. But then dance commitments pulled her out of the dump and the compliments she received made up for the tears. “I was attached to the character Saanjh that I played, it hurt for the film to not do as well as we expected.”

On the plus side, Sonnalli was overwhelmed with the love she received for her performance in Kolkata. “I have always felt that I get much support from the people in North, to be appreciated in Kolkata sure means that my films have reached there as well.”

With Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Wedding Pullav to her credit, it’s an actioner that Sonnalli is dying to do. “Given my kick-boxing and karate background, doing some cool stunts ranks high on my wish-list.” In fact, she was recently honoured with Lions Best Fitness Pro Actor of the year. Her fitness funda – to keep moving.

“I ensure that I workout every single day.” Not much of a gym girl, she heavily banks on yoga. “Some stretching or a quick run is all it takes to stay fit,” she insists. Then she must be watching her diet, but she laughs heartily, “No no, I eat everything except refined sugar and process food like chips.” Some rice-dal, samosa or chola bhatura anything cooked fresh is welcome in Sonnalli’s world. “Seeing me, wherever I go, people just offer me salads, and I am like ‘kuch real khana milega,” she guffaws.

With her next film going on the floors this April, Sonnalli is happy performing, it’s her best friend’s wedding for the moment, and god willing, she would love to call Chandigarh home. “Coming here in this weather, it feels like one is not in India at all!”
