Kapurthala girl Sawan Rupowali is one of those actors whose transition from theatre to movies has been smooth. She talks about working with Ammy Virk in two National Awards-winner sports biopic Harjeeta, pressure to perform in movies and how Covid -19 affected her….

Which is your favourite film and why?

My all-time favourite film is Harjeeta. It was my debut film and the story inspired me to be hardworking and dedicated. It was a dream come true working with talented actor Ammy Virk.

How has been the transition from theatre to films?

Whenever you venture into something different, difficulties do come but a person should know how to overcome it. I did my best.

As a debutant in Harjeeta, was there any pressure to perform?

People had expectations and I tried to meet those expectations. There was pressure but I overcame it confidently.

How was the bonding between you and Ammy?

It was great. Ammy Virk gave me the screen space and I really enjoyed working with him.

Harjeeta, Sikander 2, Jaddi Sardar to Unni Ikki, how has been the working experience in these films?

My experience in all these films was fabulous.

Name one Punjabi film which is your best.

Rabb Da Radio. It showcased relations so well.

How have you evolved as an artiste in all these years?

I feel an artiste is always evolving. With every new character that you play, a new project that you do, you learn something new. You become better.

What are you up to these days?

I work out daily to keep myself fit.

Do you miss the sets?

Yes, of course. It is my bread and butter.

How is your quarantine time going?

Amazing, as it is a golden period to work on myself.

What new things have you learnt?

Cooking.

What changes do you see in yourself post Covid-19 ?

I give priority to health now.

Two special things you like about Amritsar?

Lawrence Road & Sada Pind.

If given a choice, would you choose a Hindi movie or a web series?

Both are amazing opportunities. I would love to do both.

Which Punjabi dish you like the most?

Gobi prantha with malai.

Your favourite Punjabi movie?

Rabb Da Radio and Angrej.

Favorite Punjabi songs?

Ik kudi…..

Three places in Punjab you would recommend to your friends?

Amritsar Sahib, Patiala and Kapurthala.

How are you keeping yourself fit these days?

I am having a balanced diet, eating home-cooked food and avoiding junk food.
