Abhishek Singh, an IAS officer, was recently featured in B Praak’s hit single, Dil Tod Ke. He will be seen in Netflix’s upcoming crime series – Delhi Crime 2. Here’s a tete-e-tete with Abhishek
What prompted you to become a part of the entertainment industry?
I had never made any conscious plan as such to join the entertainment industry. It all started last year when I met my friend Mukesh Chhabra. He convinced me that I can act. So, I acted in this short film made by some students. It was called Chaar Pandrah. After that T-series asked me to send some pictures and that’s how I became a part in B Praak’s latest single.
Where did the shooting for this song take place?
It was a brief shoot schedule and was completed in 4-5 days. We shot around Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
How has been the response so far?
The response is spectacular. I would like to thank the team which has been wonderful in all aspects. The song has been beautifully written by Manoj Muntashir. Rochak has composed the heart-touching music and B Praak’s melodious voice has truly formed a winning combination.
Tell us about Delhi Crime Season 2.
When I watched Season 1, I was in complete awe of the actors. Each character, be it a policeman or a criminal, was well played. The show portrays true events and that is why it resonates so well with the audience. I can’t reveal much about the new season and just hope it gets the same love.
Being an IAS officer, how do you strike a balance between work and your passion for acting?
If you truly want to pursue a passion, time will never be a constraint. You can never be too busy. If you really like something, you will find a way. I have never had any issue balancing both and shall continue to do so.
What types of concepts interest you as an actor?
I am particularly drawn to concepts which have a specific message. I strongly feel that the country and society will progress only when the thought process is forward looking.
Besides Delhi Crime 2, what else is in the pipeline?
Yes, I am speaking to few makers. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we are in talks and will make announcements when things are finalised.
